
What Coverages Are Offered Under the Shriram Life Accidental Death and Disability Income Rider?
Accidental Demise
Premature demise due to an accident is covered under the Accidental Death and Disability Income Rider. If the life insured passes away within 180 days of an accident during the rider tenure, the rider benefit becomes payable.
Accidental Disability
A permanent and total disability suffered in an accident is also covered under the Accidental Death and Disability Income Rider. If the life insured suffers from such a disability within 180 days of an accident during the rider's tenure, the rider benefit will become payable.
In the case of senior citizens, the life insured would be considered disabled if any of the following conditions are met. However, for normal individuals, either of the last two conditions should be fulfilled for the disability claim -
- The inability of the life insured to work or gain employment after the accidental injury.
- The loss of eyesight in both eyes or the loss of both limbs or the loss of one hand and one leg.
- The inability of the life insured to independently do three or more basic lifestyle activities like washing, dressing, mobility, feeding etc.
1% of the rider sum assured is paid in monthly instalments till the end of the rider's tenure subject to a minimum tenure of 10 years.
